| | Marigold Heaven
Gardening?
We’re giving it up.
The work is too much
for these aging bodies.
We decided to try
one more year,
but drought and heat
reigned supreme
and not one morsel
was gathered. But, oh,
the garden is filled
to overflowing
with marigold blooms,
self-seeded, spread
by tilling throughout
the garden. We could
not have planned
this glorious spread.
Only God makes such
beautiful things,
far beyond our
capabilities.
What a shame
we don’t eat marigolds.
