(one)
Sometimes I would sit and think
in that meeting place.
The bus was forever in coming there;
the dust, pelting the face;
the people as openly abrasive
no thought in projectiles - and
what is thought - words communicated
by the waves, the waves--
through air, through--
like sleek predators through
water
dragging
depths
like inverse leaves through
the waters of air
sitting still while everything around them
moves
(two)
It bent down, down
and then swung up
-the leaves flicking
The circular bar
where the absent branch
was - once -
now a Coccinellidae red core surrounded
by a light near butter collar.
How smooth and crisply clean the
separations that man makes.
